This may at first come across as a simple pencil sketch, but to anyone who assumes such would not be looking closely enough. The wide eyes, the lowered smile, the turn of the head, the tight grip of the feet...everything about this piece speaks to me. I see hope in the open eyes, worry in the lowered smile, worry in the angle of the head, and anxiety from the grip of the feet. I also note how the feet seem to be oversized for the bird when everything else seems in proper proportion, suggesting the anxiety is the dominating factor in whatever is running tracks through this worried, affectionate mind. The markings on the face to me first appeared to look like extra sets of eyes, and I cannot help but feel that whatever this problem is, that there are a lot of different views on it, and that the harbinger holds these opinions close like their own; for they nearly share the same gaze.

The bird has been a representative of freedom for a long time, but a lot of people don't look into the other meanings they hold as Totems and Guides, and how each species watches over different aspects of the journey. I see a desire; a longing to fly free of this circumstance, yet enough self discipline to not resort to flight and thus abandon the others whose shoulders this also rests upon.

A very communicative piece and perfect for a Free-Draw challenge.

Wow, I'm just amazed with how much you can see with just a simple piece like mine. Incredibly, I felt really attached with everything you said, even if I drew that without really thinking about it. Now I am really fond of these free draws!
But, really, thank you. You spent your time on this, and it helped me with my knowledge of myself. You are a very intellectual person, aren't you? I admire that.
I think I'll just let myself fly. ^^
